My Citibank Cash Back Card Application Experience

I submitted an application online. It was on December 31, 2019. As far as I remember, I sent them a scanned copy of my UMID.


They emailed me confirming the receipt of my application. They also provided a link for checking its progress.

According to them, my application will expire on February 5, 2020. I dunno what it means. Probably, the deadline?

On January 3, 2020, I received this instruction via SMS:

"URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED: We have received your Citi credit card application. In order for us to proceed, please text CITICARD YES to 29480. If you did not apply, text CITICARD NO to 29480. Standard text messaging rates apply."

After a few days, multiple unknown numbers are calling me. I missed the calls and I've only spoken with one of their representatives on January 13, 2020. She called using ‭0288839700‬.

Note: They called every day.

The lady verified the information I've put in the form. Lastly, she told me that she will send me an email where I can reply together with a screenshot of my two latest pay slips.


They required it because my principal card from a local bank was issued less than 6 months.

On January 15, 2020, I received two emails regarding Citibank Electronic Statement Enrollment.


I thought my application was approved until I received this email (January 17, 2020):

"Congratulations! Your Citi Cash Back Card application has been approved. Please ensure that you personally receive the card and present a valid ID when we deliver it to your home address in 7 business days. Check for more details on your card."

I also received these text messages on the same day:

"Your new Citi credit card is on its way & will be delivered in a few days by AIR21. Please expect a text message from AIR21 with your tracking number & delivery details."

"Hi! Your new Citi credit card is already on its way and will be delivered in a few days by ITC with tracking no: XXX. To check the delivery status, you can visit itcmanila dot com and input the tracking no. Please disregard this message if you have already received your card."

The card was delivered by Air21. They began sending me SMS notifications the following day:

"Delivery of your shipment from Citi with tracking no. XXX is being processed. Please standby for the next text message for your delivery schedule."

I dunno what's going on with Air21, however, it took them 5 days to deliver the card (January 23, 2020). They tried on the 4th day, but as expected, they failed to arrive.

Citibank requires only the cardholder to receive their mail. Ultimate consignee only to receive!


I have the card activated through the mobile app immediately.

P.S. Citibank is generous with credit limit.
